USEA FEH Jump-Chute Clinic
Loch Moy Farm in Adamstown, MD
July 5, 2018
The Maryland Horse Trials at Loch Moy Farm is excited to announce that it will be holding a Jump Chute Clinic on July 5, 2018 with Samantha Allan. The clinic is open to horses of all ages, but precedence will be given to horses that are 3 years of age and are currently competing in the USEA Future Event Horse (FEH) series.
This Clinic is intended to be an introduction for young horses to practice free-jumping in a jump chute. The setup will be similar to the chute that will be used at the East Coast USEA Future Event Horse Championship which will be held at Loch Moy Farm on September 22 - 23, 2018.
Free-jumping is a wonderful way to evaluate the potential of a young horse over fences. It is also an effective and positive way to introduce a young horse to jumping without the guidance or distraction of a rider. Not only is free-jumping good for young horses, it is also beneficial for mature horses to keep them quick on their feet and to remind them how to take care of themselves when needed.
The clinician will be FEH Committee member Samantha Allan. Allan has successfully competed at the upper levels of Eventing, is a USEF Eventing Judge (r), USEF Eventing TD (r) and USDF Bronze Medalist. She has brought along many young horses from the start and has seen that a correct foundation for a young horse has a significant impact on a horse's future success.
The cost for the jump chute clinic will be $70 per horse, for a 30 minute session. Anyone may audit for $15.
