Nick Larkin Eventing & Dressage Clinic Oct 14-15

Organizer: Jessica DeMay tikidoc1@aol.com 8049213901

Nick Larkin, winner of the Rolex 4* 3DE in 1998, will give a clinic at Oakdale Equestrian Center in Powhatan VA on October 14-15. $80/lesson. Nick is a fantastic teacher, and is happy teaching riders at all levels and ages.

He will hold private dressage lessons, as well as small groups or semi-privates for SJ and XC.
He will primarily teachat Oakdale, but is willing to go to other farms in the area as well, if the schedule allows. Lessons are $80 each (this applies to the 45-minute private lessons or the longer group lessons.)

PLEASE READ:
This clinic is charged by the lesson, not by the day.
Private lessons: Available in Dressage.
1 Day Clinic: Single Phase, Either SJ or XC
2 Day Clinic: 2-Phase SJ + XC
To sign up for stadium or cross country, sign up for 1-day clinic option.
If you want both, sign up for 2-day clinic option.
If you want dressage and stadium OR cross country, sign up for 1- clinic day and a private, and if you want all 3 phases sign up for 2-day plus a private.

In general, we schedule 45-minute private dressage lessons on Saturday morning (Oakdale boarders are scheduled for the early slots to allow for travel time for off-farm riders unless you tell me otherwise). Stadium is generally to follow, in groups of 2-4. Lesson time depends on the number of riders in the group (grouped by level). Cross country is Sunday, in groups of 2-5, again with lesson time to depend on group size.

**Oakdale Boarders only, uncheck facility fee**

If someone has a conflict with the above schedule, we can try to accommodate (such as a dressage lesson on Sunday) but it will depend on the schedule. If you want to sign up for a lesson outside the above schedule, let me know before signing up.

For those who don't know Nick Larkin, he was the winner of the 1998 Rolex 4* 3DE, back in the long format days. He was short-listed for the New Zealand Olympic Team, represented New Zealand at the World Equestrian Games in 1998, and won the '97 Adelaide International CCI***. He has also shown in dressage through PSG, so dressage riders will benefit from his teaching as well as eventers. He is also a former Pony Clubber. He has a special interest in OTTBs, and Red, his Rolex partner, was an OTTB.

In addition to his long list of accomplishments as a competitor, Nick is a gifted teacher and can get the best out of advanced green riders as well as those at the upper levels. He has a relaxed and positive but constructive teaching style and teaches with a good sense of humor. He always clearly lets the rider know what their "homework" is, to continue to improve between lessons. He comes to the area on a regular basis, every couple of months. This will be his fifth time back to the area, and previous clinics have been very positively received by riders.

Late entries will be added if space is available however a minimum number of confirmed lessons is needed for Nick to travel - earlier sign-ups confirm the clinic will happen.
