Liberty Clinic
Lindsey had so much for with us this winter SHE'S COMING BACK! We are SO excited to be hosting a second clinic in 2017 with Lindsey! Thanksgiving weekend, after you sleep off your dinner, join us and give thanks to your horse!
Lindsey is planning a fun weekend with liberty work for you and your horse.
Horses will be available for you from Lucky Orphans, for a fee, if you don't have your own horse.
Lindsey started riding when she was 8 years old. In 1993 Lindsey entered her first horse competition with a school horse named Dusty. In 1998 Lindsey’s parents bought Lindsey her first horse named Generals Mission, a lovely 4yr Quarter Horse gelding.
Lindsey rode English, Western, Dressage, Eventing, Jumper, Hunter, Trail, and Speed Events all with her gelding ‘Mission.’ She earned many champion and reserve titles and was awarded the Charlie’s Pride Memorial Award for versatility two years in a row from Durham Saddle Club.
Lindsey grew up with instruction that was primarily based on intimidating horses to get them to do what you wanted – she was taught to crop a horse when they refused jumps, and to use a harsh bit when the horse was difficult to stop.
In 2000 Lindsey started working at Pleasure Valley and mentored with Gary Convery. She learned natural horsemanship and never looked back. She learned to understand her horse, how to respond to her horse, and how to get her horse to want to work with her.
In 2002 Lindsey was receiving many requests for lessons because people would see the success she had with her own horse and wondered if she could help. Lindsey started doing some horse training and lessons.
In 2005 Gary passed away. It was a very sad year, but Lindsey progressed to find Don Halladay and the Parelli Natural Horsemanship program.
Lindsey explored natural horsemanship beyond Parelli program and continued to learn from other natural horsemen including Tom Shields (Chris Irwin Techniques), David Cowley (Two Way Trust), Karen Rohlf (Dressage Naturally), and many others.
In 2008 Lindsey published a book ‘Natural Horsemanship Answering the What, Why, and How for ALL Disciplines by Lindsey Forkun’
In 2012 Lindsey’s dream came true – her very own farm. Partridge Horse Hill started with 1 paddock and a horse shelter.
In 2014 Lindsey discovered Centered Riding and knew that was the missing link. She quickly became immersed in the techniques and achieved her Centered Riding Instructor Level 1 in June of 2015.
In 2015 Lindsey combined her natural horsemanship and centered riding knowledge to create Harmony HorsemanshipTM. She used this technique to train her off the track Thoroughbreds that competed at the 2015 Thoroughbred Makeover – which she won with her horse ‘Soar’ that was 1st in Trail and 3rd in Freestyle.
