McLain Ward Clinic at Rutledge Farm, June 6, 2018

2004, 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist and 2016 Olympic Silver Medalist, McLain Ward comes to Rutledge Farm, in Middleburg, Virginia, June 6, 2018, to teach an exclusive one-hour clinic, followed by a post-clinic Q&A session.

This clinic is the inaugural clinic of Rutledge Farm's "Olympic Sessions". (OlympicSessions.com)

At the 2004 Summer Olympic Games, in Athens, McLain won a Gold Medal, as part of the United States team, in Team Jumping, together with Peter Wylde, Beezie Madden, and Chris Kappler. He continued to compete as an Olympian, again winning a Gold Medal, as part of the United States team, in Team Jumping, at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games, along with Laura Kraut, Beezie Madden, and Will Simpson. At the 2016 Olympic Games, in Rio de Janeiro, McLain won a Silver Medal, as part of the United States team, in Team Jumping, along with Kent Farrington, Lucy Davis, and Beezie Madden. Additionally, McLain has earned two Pan Am Games Gold Medals, as well a bronze. 2017, McLain won the Gold Medal, at the FEI World Championships, in Omaha, Nebraska.

The clinic will be held in Rutledge Farm's outdoor arena. If the weather is just right, then we might even do it on one of Rutledge Farm's Grand Prix field. If the weather forces us to go indoors, then the clinic will be in Rutledge Farm's indoor arena. Both arenas have premiere, state-of-the-art Attwood Equestrian Surfaces footing.

If you need stabling, then contact us, and we'll be happy to try to help you out. We might even have stalls available, for a fee.

RIDERS - please understand that this clinic is exclusive and unusually limited. If you are not able to ride, for some reason or other, then please make sure to find someone to fill your spot. Contact us (540-687-3030) for approval of the rider. No substitutions will be permitted within 72 hours of the clinic. A wait list will be maintained.

Please upload a signed Rutledge Farm, LLC release, and valid Coggins via the “Upload Documents” button. Releases are tailored for Adults and Minors. Please use the appropriate release.

All Riders and Auditors must pre-pay, via this website. Because of the clinic's limited size and duration, there will be no refunds for no-shows or for anyone who has to cancel.

Note: We love dogs, and even still, no dogs will be allowed, so please leave your little friends at home.

Once you arrive at the Rutledge Farm main gate, you'll check in with registration, where you will receive your wristband and parking instructions.

Administrative Information

  • Ride Time: Riders should arrive at least 30 minutes before the clinic start time, to get settled and prepare.
  • Trailer Direction: We are at the intersection of Rutledge Farm Lane and Carters Farm Lane. Come to our main gate and you will be directed where to park your trailer.Driving Directions:​FROM MIDDLEBURG, VA: ​
    - Travel east, on Rte. 50 ((John Mosby Highway, Lee Jackson Memorial Highway), towards Washington, DC.
    - Approximately 2 miles, outside of Middleburg, turn left on Rte. 627 (Carters Farm Lane).
    - Travel about a mile, until you pass Oakham Rd., on your right.
    - Immediately past Oakham Rd., on the right, you will see a horse farm with black 4-board fencing. This is Rutledge Farm.
    - Continue on Carters Farm Lane, past the first two gates, on the right. The third gate, on the right, is the main entrance to Rutledge Farm.
    FROM DULLES AIRPORT: ​
    - Travel Rte. 50 West (John Mosby Highway, Lee Jackson Memorial Highway), towards Winchester, Virginia.
    - Continue through the village of Aldie, Virginia.
    - Approximately 2 miles, before Middleburg, Virginia, turn right on Rte. 627 (Carters Farm Lane).
    - Travel about a mile, until you pass Oakham Rd., on your right.
    - Immediately past Oakham Rd., on the right, you will see a horse farm with black 4-board fencing. This is Rutledge Farm.
    - Continue on Carters Farm Lane, past the first two gates, on the right. The third gate, on the right, is the main entrance to Rutledge Farm.
